Pottery Lessons

I offer lessons to both children (age 12 and older) and adults, who are interested in learning all the aspects of working with clay.

Schedules are flexible and designed to fit any lifestyle and time available you might have. You have two formats to choose from. All you have to do is choose the time and days of the week you want to come in and when you want to start. All classes are semi-private so I can really pay lots of attention to you when you are in class. Classes are 3 hrs long on each day.

Class format #1:
8 Week Class Once a Week ------ $190 (includes studio glazes and firings)

Class format #2
8 Week Class Twice a Week ------ $320 (includes studio glazes and firings)

Lessons are structured around each students individual interest, but in general and depending on which class format you sign up for, we will cover more or less of the following:

* How to shape the clay into different forms: vases, bowls, mugs, etc.
* Techniques for trimming and decorating with texture.
* Making lids and attaching handles, spouts, and other decorative pieces.
* How to use different tools and how to make your own tools.
* Basic hand building techniques that you will use in addition to the wheel.
* You will learn about different types of clay, firing, temperatures, glazes, and glazing techniques.

You will need to purchase a Pottery Tool Kit and a bag of clay. These can be purchased at the studio. A cheap plastic tool box and an apron are optional, but you can pick them up at a dollar store. Please come dressed in old clothing and wear some old comfortable flat shoes. If you have long hair, please make sure it is pulled back so that it stays out of your face and away from the wheel, for your safety.
